Radical Bakers Gathering is our main event of the year, held at Crabapple Community, Shrewsbury, one of the oldest housing co-ops in the UK. The stream that runs through our workshops is that they involve practical tasks we can do together to achieve a greater goal. There are nice canvas spaces with practical workshops along with live music on the Green Dragon Solar Stage. We run a café bar and offer fully catered tickets. We sold out in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
We are sold out for 2021!
Our 2021 event will be Covid-Secure. It is smaller and more spread out than usual and we will have social-distancing measures in place like limited workshop sizes and an outdoor stage with covered areas. There will be full days of workshops and activities and a decent band or two each night. We are planning a Crafty Show-and-tell, where people can showcase the new skills they have learned. As usual we will have the Baking area, Camp Market, Green Woodworking and Textiles as well as Wild Plant walks and tours of the Crabapple grounds and gardens. In 2021 the Team Bake-off will be replaced by a smaller session making sweet treats for Tiffin.
• Hand-sanitiser. Workshop providers will sanitise touch-points in the spaces after each session and you will be asked to have sanitised your hands on entry to each session.
• All the workshop spaces will be more spread out so people are not forced into close proximity to each other.
• There will be a certain amount of chairs in each marquee. This will indicate the maximum number of people allowed in each session in order to maintain social-distancing.
• The workshops are either outside or in marquees with the sides open and it will be up to the workshop provider’s discretion as to whether they will require you to wear a mask in order to participate inside the structure.
• The Bar and Stage will be outdoors with covered seating areas and a larger fire pit.
• The café will be operating an enhanced hygiene schedule, so food service may take a little longer than usual. People will be called in groups for food service.
